We are looking for: Customs Operations Specialist

We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Customs Operations Specialist to join our team. This position will play a crucial role in managing customs operations for import to Germany, France, Italy and other European countries as well as export from the European Union. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of customs regulations and procedures, with proficiency in English and German being highly desirable.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate customs clearance activities for imports to Germany, France, and Italy, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and requirements.
  • Prepare and submit customs documentation, including import/export declarations, invoices, and certificates of origin.
  • Communicate with customs authorities and freight forwarders to resolve any issues or discrepancies that may arise during the clearance process.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of customs regulations and procedures in Germany, France, Italy, and other relevant countries.
  • Provide guidance and support to internal departments on customs-related matters, including tariff classifications, duty rates, and trade agreements.
  • Collaborate with the logistics team to optimize shipping routes and transportation methods to minimize customs delays and costs.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of customs compliance programs and procedures.
  • Conduct periodic audits and reviews of customs documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Monitor changes in customs regulations and communicate updates to relevant stakeholders.
  • Support the company's overall import/export operations as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in International Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in customs operations, with a focus on import/export activities in Germany, France, and Italy.
  • Proficiency in English is required, with fluency in German being highly advantageous. Knowledge of additional languages is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of customs regulations and procedures in the European Union and relevant countries.
  • Experience working with customs authorities, freight forwarders, and other external stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills and the ability to solve complex problems.
  • Proficiency in using customs clearance software and other relevant tools.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to upholding ethical standards and promoting a culture of compliance within the customs operations department.
