The Director of the Research and Technology Center will lead the development and implementation of innovative technologies and research initiatives aimed at enhancing oil and gas exploration and production and at the same time provide high quality on- request services for SOCAR upstream state-related activities and technical studies. This leadership role involves strategic planning, team management, collaboration with industry stakeholders, and ensuring the integration of cutting-edge technologies into upstream operations.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement the strategic vision and direction for the Research and Technology Center in cooperation with Capital Project Management Department
- Lead the identification and prioritization of research initiatives and technological developments
- Ensure alignment of research activities with the company’s overall business objectives and strategies
- Oversee the planning, execution, management of R&D projects and on-request state-related and technical studies services provision
- Foster innovation and drive the development of new technologies to improve exploration, drilling, and production efficiency
- Stay abreast of technological advancements and industry trends to guide research efforts
- Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team of scientists, engineers, and technical experts
- Develop talent through training and professional development programs
- Establish and maintain partnerships with academic institutions, research organizations, and industry partners
- Represent the company in industry conferences, technical forums, and collaborative research initiatives
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration within the organization to integrate research outcomes into operational practices
- Develop and manage the center’s budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to various projects
- Ensure all research activities comply with regulatory standards and company policies
