About the role
Candidates should possess a commitment to provide a high standard of education to the students of the school, in and out of the classroom, by applying your knowledge and skills as an EAL Teacher and by providing an example through your personal conduct.
Please note that this role is offered with a fixed term contract to cover maternity leave.
Main area of responsibility:
- Plan and prepare lessons of high quality for assigned EAL students, during withdrawal sessions. (These will be primary during Russian, but may not be limited to this period).
- Adjust and plan lessons according to the changing needs of the assigned pupils.
- Provide additional learning support to EAL students where appropriate.
- Seek guidance and opportunities for professional development in EAL teaching, so as to provide the best possible support.
- Monitor and meet the personal needs of EAL students around the school. EAL staff must actively help these students thrive within our community, as they develop their language skills.
- Liaise with other leaders - including class teacher, EAL coordinator, SMT, playground coordinator, and specialist teachers - to ensure that the needs of EAL students are supported.
- Contribute to the development of EAL Action Plans and to the fulfilment of any relevant points they contain.
- Meet and collaborate with parents to meet the personal and learning needs of the pupils to the highest possible extent.
